Roadside litter presents a complex, problematic and highly costly problem. Why? There are significant health and safety issues and costs associated with clearing litter on roadsides, laybys and junctions which makes it harder to tackle the problem and for cleansing to take place.

The responsibility for maintaining and improving the road network in Wales lies with the local authorities in which they go through except for the major trunk roads which are the responsibility of the Welsh Government’s trunk road agencies (the South Wales Trunk Road Agency and the North Wales Trunk Road Agency respectively). If you need to report a problem with roadside litter in your area, you can report a problem through to the relevant agency.
