Before you apply, please read the following essential applicant requirements Expand Sites must have landowner permission for at least five years Sites must be on land that is in not-for-profit ownership. If the land is in private ownership, but meets all other criteria, Keep Wales Tidy may exercise judgement and propose an exception to Welsh Government e.g. land used to deliver public services, leased by social housing, or will not generate material benefit to the land owner (the land is of very low value, very small scale etc). Applicants must work with Keep Wales Tidy staff when planning package installation. Packages must deliver environmental growth that can be seen ‘from your doorstep’. This means they should be located where people live, work, access public services, travel (could include roadside verges, roundabouts) and spend their leisure time (e.g. public open spaces). Applicants must involve local volunteers – who will work with Keep Wales Tidy staff to install the new garden. It is expected that at least five volunteers will be involved in a starter package and ten in a development package and they must commit to 25 volunteer hours and 150 volunteer hours this year respectively. Work must be delivered between 1 April 2021 and end of February 2022. Applicants must agree to maintain the site for a minimum of five years and have a plan for future maintenance (Keep Wales Tidy will help you prepare this). Packages must increase the number of people who experience nature. Applicants must promote equality, fairness, and inclusivity for those most disadvantaged. Packages must improve peoples’ lives by bringing people together, and delivering social, economic, health and wellbeing and educational benefits to communities. Any site that has already received funding from Local Places for Nature funding source, e.g. National Lottery Heritage Fund or Local Nature partnership, will not be eligible for this package. Applicants must provide photographic evidence and monitoring data to Keep Wales Tidy, such as number of participants involved, quotes from beneficiaries and sign an asset register to state they have received all package items. Applicants will be asked to publicise the work via social media and press releases using the templates provided. It is the responsibility of applicants to be on site to accept deliveries from suppliers.
