We want to protect our holy wells and springs, raising awareness of the important role they’ve played in our heritage.

Like other European countries, we’re fortunate to have a huge number of holy wells and sacred springs.  Sadly, many sites –  once places of pilgrimage, worship and healing – have been neglected and have fallen into disrepair.

We’re working in partnership with author, Phil Cope, Sanctaidd, ArtStation, and the Brecon Beacons National Park Authority to change this.

With support from the Brecon Beacons Trust, we’re mapping key sites and collating information and photos from the local community.

Together we want to piece together the history of wells and springs in the Brecon Beacons, celebrating their stories and traditions.

It’s the first phase of a Wales-wide project we’re developing. To find out more get in touch with Alexander Makovics
