All our Litter Champions are being advised to respect Government restrictions. When guidance allows for Litter Champions to get out and about, we’re asking them to follow these simple steps:

  • Please don’t go out if you feel unwell or are otherwise showing cold or flu like symptoms
  • Wear gloves during the clean-up at all times – PLEASE DO NOT SHARE GLOVES
  • Wash your hands thoroughly for 20 seconds using soap and hot water before and after your pick, and dry thoroughly
  • Stay at least two metres (about three steps) away from other people
  • Please cover your nose and mouth with a tissue if you cough or sneeze and dispose of the tissue immediately in a bin. Use a hand sanitiser if you are not wearing gloves when this happens
  • Please contact your local authority to check if they’re still able to collect and dispose of your waste.

Take care and stay safe.

Keep Wales Tidy’s Litter Champion scheme is currently on hold. We have been inundated with requests and simply cannot cope with demand, so unfortunately, we are not signing up any new Champions at this time. It costs approximately £200 to equip, train and insure each Champion, and all the grant-funded kit we secured has now been allocated.

Keep Wales Tidy are now in the process of evaluating the scheme and investigating more sustainable ways to support individual volunteers who want to look after their local area. We are also talking to partners and potential funders / sponsors about the possibility of securing funding to re-open the scheme in the future.

In the meantime, we advise anyone who wants to litter pick their local area to join their local group
