Your certificate

Display the Green Flag certificate with pride. Like your flag, your Green Flag certificate must be displayed on site for a period of one year from the date the Award is presented. It should appear alongside the information sheet to ensure everyone understands what the Green Flag stands for.

Useful tips:

  • Create a catchy headline that you’d want to read
  • Add the human touch with a powerful quote. What does Green Flag mean to you? What difference does your site make to people’s lives?
  • Always include a high-resolution (at least 1MB in size) photo to send with your press release
  • Nowadays, social media can be a great way of contacting media outlets
  • Make sure your contact details are at the end of the release

Make the most of social media

We want to grow the #GreenFlagWales family and encourage more Green Flag sites and managing organisations to share their achievements on social media.

We’ve created a special image card promoting Green Flag sites, which can be shared on any social media platform – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

Useful tips:

  • Research shows that social media posts with images or videos perform far better than those without
  • Take a look back at your previous posts to see when your followers are most active online
  • Use hashtags to widen your audience. We use the dedicated hashtags #GreenFlagWales / #GwobrYFanerWerdd and Visit Wales use #FindYourEpic / #WalesAdventure, but also consider other keywords e.g. #lovetheoutdoors #awardwinning #parks

Social media post examples:
