Ahoy there, mateys! We’re looking for new recruits to join our crew and help clean up Cardiff on international Talk Like a Pirate Day!

We’ll be there (in full fancy dress, of course) with  the incredible volunteers from Cardiff Rivers Group. We even have a special guest coming along…yes, Wynne Evans from BBC Radio Wales will be grabbing a litter picker, rolling up his sleeves and getting involved.

We’re meeting at the entrance to Sophia Gardens at 9.45am on Sunday 19 September. We’ll be providing litter picking kit and our Cardiff project officer Gareth Davies will be giving a full health and safety briefing. All you need to do is dress up in your best pirate gear that’s suitable for the Welsh weather, including some sensible footwear, and meet us there on Sunday.

Our event is one of six clean-ups taking place in major cities across the UK as part of the buccaneering anti-littering campaign Treasure Your River. We’re working with Hubbub, The Rivers Trust, and other partners to keep our rivers in ship-shape and to stop litter reaching the seven seas.

Want to help make a difference? Arrr, what are you waitin’ for? Join us on Sunday!
