Air pollution is any emission resulting from human activity. The pollutants can come from a range of sources and can accumulate to toxic levels which can have a severe impact on our quality of life and our health. In some areas of Wales, air pollution has far exceeded what is considered to be ‘safe’ limits. It is now estimated that air pollution contributes to 2,000 deaths in Wales each year – 6% of all deaths.

To address this issue, we need to reduce the sources of air pollution and make positive and sustainable changes to how we live, work and travel.
