The Green Flag Award programme is open for applications from now until 31 January 2019.

In July, Keep Wales Tidy unveiled that a record-breaking 112 community-managed green spaces in Wales met the high standard needed to receive the prestigious Green Flag Community Award 2018/19. These sites rely on volunteers to maintain their excellent facilities.

A huge variety of parks and green spaces can apply for a Green Flag Community Award. Among this year's recipients were, for the first time, Coed Llwynonn on Anglesey, Pontsticill Village in Merthyr Tydfil and St Tudno's Churchyard (Great Orme), Conwy.

Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator at Keep Wales Tidy said:

The Green Flag Award is all about connecting people with the very best parks and green spaces. Keep Wales Tidy is proud to run the scheme in Wales because we know having a good quality environment can have a big impact on our communities, health and well-being, and economy. Any sites interested in applying for the Green Flag Community Award this year should get in touch as soon as possible to enter. Together we can continue to raise the standards of parks and green space in Wales.
